Greg Davis

President, CEO & Director | Sun Peak Metals Corp. | Mining Executive & Exploration Leader

"Leading Sun Peak Metals' Safra VMS exploration in Saudi Arabia and the successful sale of Sunridge Gold's Asmara project"

Mining Executive

Biography

Greg Davis is the President, Chief Executive Officer, and a Director of Sun Peak Metals Corp. (TSX-V: PEAK | OTCQB: SUNPF), a mineral exploration company focused on advancing the Safra Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS) project in Saudi Arabia. With over 25 years of experience in the mining sector, Davis brings an extensive technical background spanning all levels of corporate and project management across multiple jurisdictions worldwide.

Prior to leading Sun Peak Metals, Davis served as Vice President of Business Development for Sunridge Gold Corp from 2006 until the successful sale of the Asmara project in Eritrea in April 2016. During his tenure at Sunridge, he directed financing efforts and raised over $50 million for the company, demonstrating a proven ability to secure capital for advanced-stage mineral projects. The Asmara project sale represented a significant value-creation event for Sunridge shareholders, underscoring Davis's track record of moving exploration assets through the development pipeline to successful exits.

At Sun Peak Metals, Davis has been instrumental in advancing the company's Safra VMS project from early-stage exploration through to its maiden drill program in Saudi Arabia — a jurisdiction that is increasingly attracting attention from global mining investors due to its geological potential and government support for mineral development. His expertise in VMS deposits, combined with his capital markets experience, positions him as a knowledgeable voice in the junior mining exploration space.

Davis is a regular presenter at the Metals Investor Forum, where he has engaged with prominent mining commentators including Brien Lundin of Gold Newsletter and Eric Coffin of HRA Advisories. His repeated appearances at these forums reflect the investment community's interest in Sun Peak's exploration progress and Saudi Arabia's emerging mineral potential.

  • Top takeaway Davis argues that his team's 20 years of VMS discovery experience on the African side of the Red Sea gives Sun Peak a repeatable edge in Saudi Arabia's underexplored Arabian Shield, and he sees the company now transitioning from pre-discovery to delineation.
  • His highest conviction is Safra: he says the copper-rich hits together with a kilometer-long gravity anomaly matching the Bisha signature are what most excite the team, with drilling set to resume as early as October 2026.
  • He leans on track record for credibility, citing the team's role in the Bisha discovery from 2002 (164 meters of massive sulfide drilled in May 2003) and the Embadaro deposit (a 240-meter zone, about 70 million tons), and draws direct analogies between those gravity-led finds and Safra and West Shock today.
  • He presents Saudi Arabia as an easy and attractive place to operate, citing full government support, stability, the 2018 mining-law change allowing 100% foreign ownership, and Vision 2030 making mining the third pillar of the economy.
  • On timing, he points to a financing announced the day before the talk that should close quickly and fund drill programs starting October 2026, with Safra follow-up, Al Maya and West Shock all slated from October into early 2027.

Safra drilling hit VMS (volcanogenic massive sulfide) mineralization in all seven holes, including 38 meters grading 1.4% copper with zinc, silver and gold. A kilometer-long gravity anomaly along strike mirrors the signature that led this team to its Bisha discovery in 2003. Sun Peak Metals is applying 20 years of Red Sea discovery experience to 13 underexplored licenses in Saudi Arabia. A new financing announced the day before this presentation is expected to close soon and fund drill programs starting in October. Early drilling at the NGZ target returned 10 meters of 11.3 grams per tonne gold, open along strike.

  • Top takeaway Argues the western Saudi Arabia portfolio in the Arabian Nubian Shield can host multiple world-class deposits, selected using the same VMS geology his team worked across the Red Sea in Eritrea with NEVSUN, where Doug Reddy led the first Bisha resource calculation.
  • Sees the 39-meter, 1.4% copper intercept at Safra as wide open and tied to a gravity anomaly and conductor about a kilometer to the north that he says carries the distinct signature of a massive sulfide, with the drill turning back toward that target in October.
  • Plans a shift into heavy drilling across multiple projects, including Safra and top target El Maya (a coincident gossan, gravity and EM signature he calls possibly the team's former favorite), with more than one drill likely and the plan rolling out over the weeks into October 2026.
  • Positions the company as a first mover in Saudi Arabia after Vision 2030 (2018) allowed majority foreign ownership, with nine months of target-generation work done, compounds and offices in place, and a team of about 12 geologists led by Scott Ansell, Doug Reddy and Aaron Abano.
  • States the goal of driving the share price higher through drill results reported every few weeks, funded by the financing launched just before the interview, while noting management holds 15-20% and has joined every financing.

Saudi Arabia's 2018 Vision 2030 reforms opened mining to foreign owners; Sun Peak Metals now holds 13 wholly owned licenses in the underexplored Arabian-Nubian Shield. CEO Greg Davis counts maiden drilling as two discoveries: zinc-silver at Halahila and copper-zinc-gold-silver at Safra, including 39 metres of 1.4% copper. VMS (volcanic massive sulphide — sulphides formed on sea floors) reveals only an iron oxide gossan at surface; metal content stays unknown until drilling. Davis says drilling resumes in October at Safra and expands to targets like El Maya, with management aiming for results news every few weeks. A just-launched financing will fund the upcoming drill programs; roughly 164 million shares outstanding, with management holding 15% to 20%.

  • Top takeaway Davis argues the Safra setup — gossanous outcrop plus a strong gravity anomaly about a kilometer along strike — looks like Bisha in Eritrea in 2003, where geophysics directed drilling to a large VMS deposit.
  • He says his team's 25 years in the Arabian-Nubian Shield, as the exploration team for Nevsun and senior management for Sunridge, underpins its objective of making multiple world-class discoveries in Saudi Arabia.
  • He describes the Saudi Ministry of Mines as professional, well-staffed and highly supportive, saying it enabled the company to move very fast to complete its maiden drill program on two projects.
  • He presents the hit rates at Safra (7 of 7 holes) and Halahila (9 or 10 of 13) as evidence that his team's geophysics-led targeting method works.
  • He guides to heavy near-term drilling across the portfolio — Safra again soon, at least 2,000 meters at El Maya before end of 2026, and Washak in the following months — and expects strong drill-result news flow.

Sun Peak Metals hit mineralization in all seven maiden Safra holes, including 39 meters at 1.38% copper, with the zone open along strike. VMS (volcanogenic massive sulphide) drilling at Halahila hit mineralization in 9 or 10 of 13 holes across a 7-kilometre trend. CEO Greg Davis credits Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 reforms, which allow 100% foreign ownership, with opening the Arabian-Nubian Shield to explorers. A strong gravity anomaly about a kilometer north of Safra suggests the system could grow much larger, echoing the team's Bisha discovery in Eritrea. Drilling plans extend to El Maya before year-end and the recently staked Washak target in the coming months, feeding a steady news flow.
