Jean-Félix Lepage
President & CEO | Sirios Resources | Quebec James Bay gold explorer
"Mining engineer leading Sirios Resources' Cheechoo gold project in Quebec's James Bay through a fully funded 35,000-metre drill campaign."
Biography
Jean-Félix Lepage, P.Eng. (a licensed professional engineer), is President and CEO of Sirios Resources (TSXV: SOI; OTC: SIREF), the Quebec junior advancing the Cheechoo gold project in the James Bay region of Eeyou Istchee, near Newmont's Éléonore mine. A mining engineer by training, he took the top job in February 2026 when Sirios completed its acquisition of OVI Mining, the private James Bay explorer he was leading, and committed the combined company to a fully funded 35,000-metre drill program. He is now the decision-maker behind a Quebec gold resource base approaching 3 million ounces (indicated plus inferred) at Cheechoo.
Lepage holds a mining engineering degree from Université Laval and spent three and a half years at O3 Mining, first as Director of Operations and then as Vice President, Projects, where he led the Marban gold project in Quebec's Abitibi through its development studies. He then became President and CEO of OVI Mining (formerly La Pulga Mining), building a James Bay portfolio that included a 100% interest in the Corvet Est and PLEX gold projects and optioning the high-grade La Grande project to Lux Metals, where he serves as chairman of the board. The merger into Sirios — 2.34 Sirios shares for each OVI share, about 131.9 million shares issued — made him CEO on February 27, 2026, with founder Dominique Doucet moving to Executive Chairman and Head of Exploration.
His approach is engineer-first: use drilling to grow a defined resource rather than chase headlines. Cheechoo's 2025 mineral resource estimate (an audited tally of in-ground ounces prepared with independent qualified persons) stands at 35.0 million tonnes indicated at 1.12 g/t gold (grams per tonne; 1.26 million ounces) plus 42.7 million tonnes inferred at 1.23 g/t (1.7 million ounces), including 446,000 inferred ounces at 3.09 g/t in a newly introduced underground layer. Inferred ounces carry lower geological confidence than indicated, which is why Lepage's 2026 campaign is built to test and add to them: the first five Phase 1 holes returned 2.40 g/t gold over 48.5 metres, results he says support the thesis that the deposit extends beyond the 2025 estimate. An updated resource estimate is planned once Phase 1 drilling wraps.
Investors can track his progress through Sirios' press releases, where results from Cheechoo, PLEX, Fagnant, Aquilon and Corvet Est will test the merger case he made — a stronger, well-capitalized company with an exceptional portfolio of gold assets. Four rigs were active at Cheechoo as of August 2026, with 33 holes (13,555 metres) completed, and Sean Roosen, founder of Osisko Development, joined the board as part of the deal. The next checkpoint is the updated Cheechoo resource estimate expected after Phase 1 concludes around September 2026.
