Roy Gregg

VP Exploration | Getty Copper | BC porphyry copper geologist behind the Getty South drill program

"BC porphyry copper geologist designing and qualifying the Getty South drill program"

Geologist

Biography

Dr. Roy Gregg is the Vice President of Exploration at Getty Copper and the Qualified Person behind the company's Getty South drill disclosures in British Columbia's Highland Valley copper district. (Getty Copper's own leadership page spells the surname "Greig," and this profile treats the "Gregg" spelling in the source record as a likely typo.)

An exploration geologist with 15 years of grassroots-through-development experience, Gregg built his career on porphyry copper systems. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona, where his research focused on the Laramide porphyry copper province — the same family of deposits that produced some of North America's largest copper mines. He is a registered professional geologist (P.Geo.).

His track record sits at the intersection of discovery and execution. As VP Exploration at Amarc Resources Ltd., he led exploration at the Joy Project, and earlier he contributed to the recent porphyry copper-gold discoveries at GT Gold Corp's Saddle North Project in British Columbia — one of the more meaningful greenfield copper finds the province has produced over the past decade.

At Getty Copper, Gregg leads the technical team advancing a roughly 240 km² land package adjacent to Canada's largest copper mine in the Highland Valley camp. He is the Qualified Person signing off on the company's 2026 fully-funded 12,000–16,000 metre drill program, and his name appears on the Qualified Person disclosure on every Getty South release — including the September 2026 step-out intercepts of 46m of 1.47% Cu within 150m of 0.71% Cu that pushed mineralization beyond the first-pass holes (68.5m of 0.81% Cu from 39.5m, and 184m of 0.37% Cu).

For a resource investor watching junior copper, Gregg matters because his fingerprints are on the drill core coming out of Highland Valley right now. The Getty South program is testing whether a district that produced the Valley Copper mine for four decades still hosts scale-grade material in undrilled corners — and Gregg is the geologist whose work will determine the answer.

Getty Copper - High-Grade Intercepts at Getty South, Accelerated Drilling, and a $15M Financing

  • Top takeaway Argues the tight 25-meter step-outs north of the initial holes revealed the zone's upside: some holes are essentially twice as good as the first two, same mineralization style but better grades and widths.
  • Says the high-grade mineralization remains open in all directions, with a substantial strike length already and drilling now reaching about 300 meters below surface for excellent vertical extent.
  • Prioritizes stepping out over infill; the unreported Getty South holes make a first test of other zones known from historical drilling, and he expects encouraging indications from them.
  • Notes the program started near the historical shaft and its underground workings, and that the results sit about 300 meters from the property boundary — in his view a lot of room for the system to grow.

Step-out holes (drilling beyond a known zone) at Getty South came back twice as good: 46 meters of 1.47% copper within 150 meters of 0.71%. Mineralization stays open in all directions about 300 meters below surface, and holes just 25 meters apart show grade varies over short distances. The CEO says the $15 million financing was quickly oversubscribed, combining $13 million charity flow-through (tax-advantaged Canadian exploration funding) with a $2 million non-brokered tranche. Two rigs mobilize within two weeks, pushing the fall program well beyond the original 4,000 to 6,000 meters since Highland Valley permits winter drilling. The capital sets up a 2027 mineral resource estimate (MRE — the formal tally of a deposit's tonnes and grade) targeting over 25,000 meters of drilling.

  • Top takeaway The guest presents Getty South's September 2, 2026 drill release as confirming breccia-hosted copper mineralization with high-grade potential, highlighted by 68.5m of 0.81% Cu (including 14m of 1.83% Cu) and 184m of 0.37% Cu
  • He argues Getty South is geologically different from both the classic porphyry copper-moly at Getty North and most other Highland Valley deposits, with potential for multiple higher-grade zones arranged concentrically around a larger breccia body
  • He reports the first two holes extended mineralization at least 72m below the deepest historical intercept on file from the 1950s-era drilling database, with target selection guided by a clear IP chargeability anomaly
  • He notes Getty Copper completed 13 holes at Getty South in the first-pass program with another 11 results still pending, expected to come in over the coming weeks to roughly a month and a half
  • He outlines a fall drilling program targeted to start in October 2026 of 4,000 to 6,000 metres of drilling, prioritising Getty South follow-up alongside Getty North, Getty West and seven additional district-scale exploration targets

Getty Copper's first two drill holes at Getty South returned 68.5m at 0.81% copper and 184m at 0.37% copper, signalling both high-grade and bulk-tonnage potential. Getty South is a breccia-hosted (broken-rock fragments cemented by minerals) copper system that differs from the classic porphyry (large intrusion-hosted) style at Getty North. Modern IP chargeability surveys layered over 1950s-era drilling data were the key exploration signature used to target the first holes at Getty South. Getty Copper plans a 4-6,000 metre fall drill program starting in October to test Getty West and other district targets. Mineralization now extends at least 72 metres below the deepest historical intercept, supporting the multi-zone potential of the Getty South breccia body.
