William Sheriff

Executive Chairman | enCore Energy Corp. | Uranium company builder across two bull markets

"Two-cycle uranium company builder: co-founded Energy Metals (acquired by Uranium One, 2007) and founded enCore Energy, now a US ISR producer"

Mining Executive

Biography

William "Bill" Sheriff is a uranium company builder whose career spans more than four decades and two uranium bull markets. He is the founder and Executive Chairman of enCore Energy Corp. (Nasdaq: EU; TSXV: EU), the only US uranium company with two licensed and operating central processing plants, both in South Texas. For investors tracking nuclear fuel supply, his record of assembling and restarting uranium assets from the bottom of the cycle is the reason his views on the sector draw attention.

In the mid-2000s Sheriff co-founded Standard Uranium and merged it into Energy Metals Corporation, where he served as Chairman while the company compiled what enCore's own materials describe as the largest domestic uranium resource base in US history. Uranium One acquired Energy Metals in 2007 in a deal valued at roughly $1.8 billion, and Sheriff later served as a director of Uranium One. He founded enCore Energy in the downturn that followed, and under his chairmanship the company restarted uranium production at its Rosita plant in 2024, acquired the past-producing Alta Mesa project, and sold a 30 percent interest in Alta Mesa to Australia's Boss Energy for US$70 million to fund its wider restart. His board record also includes a directorship at Western Lithium USA and the chairmanship of EMC Metals.

Sheriff's method is counter-cyclical consolidation: acquire licensed, past-producing uranium assets with existing plants and infrastructure, then restart them as prices recover. enCore concentrates on in-situ recovery (ISR — extracting uranium by circulating solution through underground ore and bringing it to the surface as U3O8, the processed form known as yellowcake), which carries lower capital costs than conventional mining. He is a long-standing public advocate for nuclear power and for rebuilding US uranium production so utilities can source fuel domestically.

In March 2026 Sheriff retired as enCore's Executive Chair, was named Chairman Emeritus, and accepted the Executive Chair role at Verdera Energy Corp. (TSXV: V). One month later, enCore's board asked him back as Executive Chair alongside new CEO Richard H. Little, with a renewal plan focused on the Dewey Burdock project in South Dakota and Alta Mesa East in Texas. Investors who follow him get a working education in how US ISR uranium projects are bought, permitted, financed, and brought back into production.
